Looking for a NYC Staycation? Go Glamping in Brooklyn!

Spread the love

When you think about “glamping,” you’re probably thinking about camping inside a tent somewhere in a deserted area. Well, now you don’t have to go far to go glamping. Looking for a NYC staycation? Go glamping in Brooklyn!

Brooklyn might be the last place you thought you could go glamping. You’re probably wondering how that would even work, right? Well, to make it even more interesting, you’ll be glamping inside of shipping containers! Yes, shipping containers.

The owner of NYC Glamping has converted 9 industrial shipping containers in Greenpoint and turned them into super comfortable one bedroom units. All units are complete with air conditioner, bathroom, fridge, coffeemaker, and wifi! There is also a tent available in the common area, to get more of that “camping” feel.

NYC Glamping also features a common area, with chairs and tables, hammocks, and even a couple of grills for barbecuing. One of the best parts is that the units are also just behind the Skyline Drive-In movies, and each booking includes free admissions to the movies! (If you stay on the weekends, you can also check out the Greenpoint Terminal Market just next door!)

The units all face out toward the water, with unobstructed views of the Manhattan skyline. Even though I’m not a morning person, I woke up for 6am to catch the sunrise. This was the perfect place to catch sunset as well. Having the water so close made the early wake up call so easy! When I said the units are on the Brooklyn waterfront, this was meant quite literally. The shipping containers are just a few feet away from the water. Whether it’s morning or night, you will have the soothing sound of the water as you sit back on a lawn chair and watch the boats go by.

Even though there are 9 units, the space is still very quiet. Even though there were some other guests that night, I was still able to enjoy my solo time. If you don’t want to hang around in the common area, there are dividing walls between each unit for you to have some privacy as you sit outside.

The great part about this glamping experience is that even though it’s designed to be secluded and tranquil, you’re still in the middle of a busy city. Greenpoint is home to lots of trendy restaurants, shops and attractions. If you want to grab some take out, there are restaurants within walking distance. I grabbed some dinner and brought it back to the room (dishes and silverware also provided) because I just didn’t want to miss any bit of the sunset views over the skyline.

You still get an escape from city life and a relaxing stay, but you still have the hustle and bustle of the city at your feet when needed!

Though NYC Glamping just opened up in July, rooms are booking fast! So if you’re looking for a NYC staycation and want to go glamping in Brooklyn, or if you just have questions, visit this link: www.nycglamping.com
